Tiller yanmar tiller in nc

Does anyone know where you can get a used yanmar tiller in nc.

I'm up in WA state, so don't know of dealers there in NC. What I do know is this after major rebuilding several grey market rice tillers I would seriosly consider buying a new KingKutter or whaterver they're called there at TSC, or one of the CCM tillers. You'll have a decent tiller that'll stand punishment in hard rocky soil and in the long run you'll save money and time. The grey market rice tillers just won't stand the abuse and tines will be next to impossible to get and if you find them they will be very spendy. Most of the grey market tillers have to have the draft arm lugs rebuilt to accept longer drive shafts and if you mount the tiller on a tractor with any amount of HP you'll rip the original pulling lugs right out of the tube because most of the original iron is maybe 1/4" thick. Oh yeah also get a slip clutch for whatever you go with, that'll help save it from total destruction. Been there and won't go back there again. bjr

I have never seen a Yanmar tiller so maybe I should keep my mouth shut. However any other piece of equipment I have seen that Yanmar built is first class. I have a Yanmar Backhoe on a Kubota B7100. It is old, it is worn, but it still works great. I don't know why a tiller would be any different.

I have a 48-in. Yanmar tiller, 2-pt converted to 3-pt via a hitch adapter I had fabricated. I hope the link below works, its a video of me on my Iseki tractor with the Yanmar tiller breaking thru some pretty hard, dry ground in front of my house. There's lots of rocks in there too and you can hear them, along with the tiller bouncing around a fair amount. The pto is set at second speed so the tiller is spinning at a pretty good clip. I haven't broken a tine yet but I'm sure it could happen. But the tiller only cost $250 plus $50 shipping from OK to CO (if I can remember the cost right). I would do it again. In fact, if I had to pay around $1K for new, I still wouldn't have a tiller for my tractor If you have easier (read "softer") ground to till than the compacted stuff I was breaking thru, the lighter weight Japanese tillers should be just fine for you. Like bjr said, a slip clutch on the pto shaft or at least a shear pin would be good insurance. I have neither

Any place that sells grey market tractors (Yanmar, Iseki, etc) can get Yanmar tillers. I bought a Yanmar RS1200 tiller from my local GM guy for $300 in 2005.

If the ground is too dry or hard, I use my $140 KK middle buster plow to loosen it up before hitting it with the tiller. No sense in overstressing the tiller.

Being from the PNW, I can't help with a dealer recommendation in your area. I can tell you these Yanmar tillers are great. You don't want to over stress them, working them hard on say a full sized Utility tractor in the 50HP and up range but they weren't made for that.

Mine is super quite, never had a problem with it nor broke a tine. Replanted my pasture last fall, ground was somewhat dry and hadn't been worked for over 30 yrs and ran cattle on it for a number of yrs. I think it did a decent job. Can't believe the qlty of the job it does on my garden plot.

Since I've got mine mounted up to a Yanmar tractor, I've got the UFO controls hooked up which will keep the tiller level and control depth automatically. Modified the 3pt so it complies to class I std and use a quick mount hitch.
