If you have it mounted on the tractor you can lift it up and the upper one drains without making too much of a mess plus you're pretty sure of getting everything out of there. I sprayed a bit of break cleaner in there to flush out any loose stuff.

You know, I don't remember how much they take. The top one has the dipstick. The side one I measured when I drained it and put about the same amount back in plus a little extra. 2 gallons should be more then enough.

Had kind of planned on doing it again after I did the garden this Spring. Last Fall could have been the first time ever for that tiller and probably wouldn't hurt to make sure all the old stuff is out of there.
