Tractor: Branson 2400h with 3pt PTO.
Tiller: Yanmar RSA 1205

I was given this tiller by a man that knew nothing about it and didn't want it when I bought his mower off him. Free is a fairly good price on most occasions, however this may not be one of them. I am unable to find any direct reference or documentation to this particular model, and I can't determine what kind of hitch connection this is, and if there is any way to adapt it besides straight fabrication?

I was wondering if some of you who have such knowledge could tell me what I have and perhaps provide some documentation? I am a greenhorn to tractors and implements, but not forums or the internet. I already found the PDF manual on the 1202 project thread with the exploded view diagrams, so if this is all there is for this unit, I thank you in advance for sharing.

All the best to you.

(edit: correct number)

Any Yanmar tiller with that mount (instead of common 3-point mount) was intended to remain on one tractor for the life of the tractor. The other recent threads show how people have welded up mounts to fit 3-point tractors but it isn't simple. Add the cost of a custom driveline, and you might want to sell it instead of using it.

Might anyone know then, what kind and size of tractor might this have been paired with for life?

It is not likely that I will sell the unit. It is absolutely likely that it will be fabricated for 3pt use, but I still would like to know what it was in its first life before I modify it.

The RAS tiller models were more for the Yanmar F & FX Series of machines.

It's not hard rigging something up for the tiller to work with your machine.

I appreciate the tip you gave. Searching the F and FX connection I found a pic of how it is designed to hook up and have learned that this is a 2pt hitch and that it is missing some parts to it. I will now be confident in converting this thing to be useful.

Attaching the photo of the 2pt hitch here for future searchers of the internet to find. Seems fitting since it is how I get here in the first place.

Thanks for posting that. This Yanmar sub-forum is valuable for owners due to contributions like yours.

I've never seen a mount like that!

Depending on your skills and tools it looks like your tiller could be converted to a 3 point without too much effort. But I'm retired now so any time I spend welding and machining and grinding doesn't take away from income producing time and makes my "without too much effort" statement quite subjective. Your situation may be, and probably is, different from mine.

I just added a couple extensions to my Yanmar tiller so that it would work on my Yanmar tractor. I posted pictures so if you look for my recent posts you can see what I did. More importantly though may be pictures of the tiller itself and not my handiwork. Your tiller resembles mine when it comes to the basic machine. Because of that it looks to me like a little hackin' and a hewin' could be used to remove some stuff that is extra and would get in the way of a 3 point hitch configuration while at the same time maybe providing some of the material needed to convert your tiller to 3 point. If you want me to I could take some pictures of my tiller with a tape measure so you can see how my 3 point is constructed.

I think you could make all or most of the mods and additions with an angle grinder, a drill press, drills, bolts, and nuts, and a 1/2 inch drill motor. But if you have a welder it could make the conversion easier.
Cheers,
Eric

Update: The local tractor supply service manager dug up some info and informed me that this unit is a "grey market" model. It was not manufactured for use or sales in the US, however quite a number of them do find their way into the country. The hitch connection is known as JIS, Japanese Industrial Standard, and is widely used outside the US.

I want to thank you eptm for the hard work posting the pics and putting up the youtube video as well. I had already reviewed them before posting this thread and will find them quite useful later on.

Thanks for giving me credit for the hard work but I only posted two or three pictures and nothing on YouTube. If there is a YouTube video of my tiller under etpm maybe my son posted posted it for me. But I don't think so. Anyway, I don't want credit for something I didn't do. But thanks anyway and if I can be of any help please let me know. BTW, my Yanmar YM2310 tractor and my Yanmar tiller are both grey market and both came from Viet Nam. But of course they were made in Japan. And are both fine pieces of equipment. So doing some work to make them play together well is certainly worth it to me.
