Hello

I have a Yanmar 3TNE78A(c) diesel lawn tractor and cleaned the fuel filters and forgot to fill them up when I replaced them and tried to start the enging, and now I have air in the lines.( I followed the manual on priming the fuel line, but that does not work.I filled both fuel filter. When I press down on the priming lever, I get a little resistance one time, and then nothing. I took it off, cleaned it out, replaced it and it is still the same. I loosened the lines going to the injectors, and cranked the engine, and nothing. I am getting so mad!!!! My lawn is getting so long. The only place I have fuel is in the filters. I did fill the fuel line that comes from the filter with the bleeders on it going to the priming pump, thinking that that might help, but nothing.

PLEASE HELP!!!

THANKS!!!!!

Andy

First; achieve a air free column of fuel from tank to injector pump inlet fitting.
(if you have a air bleed screw on the pump, skip inlet fitting and bleed to this point.)

Sounds like you have a hand primer on your lift pump. Use it to achieve this first goal.
Once you get the supply free from air, tighten bleed screw or fitting.

Second; loosen injector lines at injectors one turn and crank engine till fuel squirts from fitting.
Tighten injector lines and start engine.

(don't burn up your starter motor, crank 10 seconds, rest 30)
(this may take a few crank sessions and will 'test' your battery)

Thanks for the reply.

Like I said it does not seem like the hand pump does not work. I can pump it till I am blue in the face and get no fuel out of the bleeder screw. There is no fuel in the line coming from the fuel tank to the 1st filter (the one with the bleeder screws on it) Do you think that the hand pump is shot??????
is there any way around bleeding the air out by not using the hand pump???

Thanks

Andy

Could it be the hand pump is sucking air from some where ?

Obviously this would mean a leak between hand pump and tank. A 'slight' positive pressure on tank should reveal such a leak if present.

This same 'slight' pressure would aid in bleeding the air out also.
