I created and printed this shift-plate cover for my Yanmar YM-146.

I used an Ultimaker 5S to print and designed using Tinkercad. I already had a plasma cut plate for the shift positions so I attached that to the plate. The plate is much tougher than the original which cannot be purchased and is almost always cracked. I am creating a custom dash cover now that will be a combination of 3D printed and plasma cut metal parts.

Super nice! (y)

Could you be soooo kind to upload the STEP file or native CAD file too. Bet there would be others interested as well. :)

On the Yanmar Tractor Owners Group, there is a section in our FILES area just for 3D Printed Yanmar parts. :)

I like what you did! Like many others I too have a 3D printer. What filament did you use? Nylon would seem to be a good choice. Nylon is a pretty weather resistant material but I have had a lot of problems getting good prints with the material. Part of the reason is surely my printer and part is my inexperience with the particular filament and another part is surely me. But I would really love to get good porosity free nylon prints.
Thanks,
Eric

Nylon works well in non-humid conditions or away from getting wet. The Nylon supports also stick to strongly to the build plate.

I tend to do things more in PC than anything else.

FreeCAD v19 is already out for some time now. It is free and works great for 2D & 3D parametric to STL files.

I used a material called tough PLA made my ultimaker. It took 2 days to print at the 0.1mm setting so the quality was pretty good.
I just finished creating the bottom part of the dash and have that on the printer now. It will take 5 days to print. Tough Ultimaker Tough PLA material: Create durable prototypes and tooling

Thank gt14, I'll give that stuff a try. It is amazing how many different filaments are available now. There even folks who will custom extrude you own custom formulations. I have done some 30+ hour prints and besides having a hard time waiting to see how the print comes out it's really pretty painless. That is if the print works as expected.
Cheers,
Eric
