Hello all, I'm new to the board but feel like a kid at christmas! Looks like a great place to get info so here goes...
I am looking for a small utility tractor with a loader. I have a landscaping business and I need a small tractor to fit in small areas. I need to backfill trenches for sprinkler systems and spread rock (generally no larger than 2" cobble.) I also may need to do slight grading of new lawn beds, usually nothing super heavy duty.

I've run across this ad in our paper:
"Yanmar YM155D tractor w/front loader, 4x4 15 hp diesel 256 hours, perfect condition, 4' rear blade, Kubota mower deck. $5600.00."

Any advice, thoughts, or other information? I'd appreciate your help,
thanks

Pat

Pat,
I think it sounds like a good price. I know they are good tractors. Have you ever seen one of those tractors? They are pretty small. I would recommend that you go look at it and test it out a little. Most of our customers tend to think that the 155 size tractor is a little small for loader work. I guess it all depends on your expectations. I personally would hold out for at least a 186 or better yet (not that I am the least bit biased or anything) get a gray market 1510D.

Well I guess I can officially join as an owner of a Yanmar! I had pretty much talked myself out of spending$$ but this little tractor really is slick. It is so compact it will fit through many residential gates, and I see tons of opportunities for it.

I used it tonight to start spreading rock, and I must say it nice to not have the aching back and throbbing shoulder muscles!

Congrats on your new tractor - it sounds like it is a great fit for your needs. I know that the small size can really be a BIG asset.

Yes congrats, as we all have different needs, a big farmer needs a big tractor. But us little folks, that don't farm, and have just small jobs, can get by with a lot less tractor, to fill our needs. I can see in your business, a small tractor is really more of what you need than a big one, that you wouldn't have a use for except once in a while. The rest of the time, it would just be setting there. Glad you found what you want and need.
