Yanmar ym2000 won't start

You need fuel, air, compression. And adequate cranking speed.

One of these seems to be missing.


Some injectors come out easily. Mine didn't.

He owns the neighboring property I believe it ran, but I believe he didn't take care of it it was a secondary tractor for awhile. Do I test compression with both injectors removed, or remove one test that cylinder, reinstall remove other test that cylinder.. I've done a lot of gas tests but only 1 diesel awhile ago. Sounds like through everyone's comment ls these things don't take much to run or work on, hopefully we get It figured out soon grass will be growing!

Need to be spinning around 300rpm. 5 to 600psi. Will become hard to crank at 426psi or less. Per 220/226 manual.

You will most likely have to pull the injectors out. some say they loosen the retainer and crank to pop them out but i have also heard some say they shoot across the barn if done this way??

I would pull both injectors out if it was me, these engine will run on one cylinder and you dont want it starting , you also will get a faster crank without the ohter cylinder with compression on it.

I bet you have BAD stuck rings where there limiting compression but probly little compression from worn parts or head gasket but you would see contaminated oil i would thing or coolant/.

Still won't start, so far I installed a new battery, cleaned all terminals, drained fuel tank and bled injectors from filter all the way to injector, I am getting a decent amount of grey smoke when trying to start. My buddy poped the rear injector out prior to attempting to start and it is really dirty and now I don't believe it seated right as if I spray soapy water around it during starting attempt it blows small bubbles. The bottom of the injector where it seals was all marred up and areas flattened out I am thinking new injector? Try again and if not a compression test? I also needed to change the pto seal and found the pto shaft bearing in pieces when I pulled the seal so I pulled the rear cover and have a few questions on some unidentified parts laying in the bottom of the case. I'll start a new thread with questions on that thanks for any advice what should the compression be if I go that route?

I think there is probably something replaceable on the injector where it meets the block, not sure? maye a collar on the injector itself, but not sure. bubbles are not good thats your compression leaving.

There is a fiber washer going to Try and replace that and go from there, has anyone had any luck removing the injectors by twisting them to break free and then pulling them out ? Just thinking ahead if I need to do the compression test , I know I can the one injector out worried about the other was thinking maybe remove the studs and approach with a wrench like I read from another poster ?

I know ca.l has replaced his.. he has a post somewhere. he made some type of puller best I remember to remove his.. Hoye tractor also has a injector puller for sale

She started! I beleive it was a combination of back pressure as it blew out some debris from the exhaust and the washer one the bottom of one of the injectors, it took a lot of persuasin but she finally started and ran ok other the some rear end and hydraulics issues , I'll elaborate on my new proble in my pto/hydraulic post and hope for some good advice
