My name is Anthony, but more times then I like to recall I seem to be called Crazy Tony. If you have a Yanmar then you probably all know of Hoyetractor and there ability to get us most of the parts we need for these special compact tractors. In proving my alias let me tell you how I purchased my tractor. A very nice young man in our neighborhood, Ethan, was hired by myself and lots of others to do weed abatement. He added a YM2200 to his arsenal and had hopes to get attachments so he could provide additional services. As happens with most young men college became more demanding and he decided to give up the weed abatement business. Ethan asked me if I would be interested in buying his tractor. It didn't have a front loader or a box scraper the instrument's I most wanted for my property so my interest was small. At this point I really had no idea of how hard it would be to get parts for this model of Yanmar tractors. I was sort of sure you could find a front loader. Not sure of how much that would cost. A box scrapper and other parts are easily accessible and should work with the PTO. Anyhow I told Ethan that I would probably be better off waiting to find a compact tractor that at least had some of the attachments I wanted and thanked him for the offer. A few weeks later Ethan came by and said that he had a friend who would loan him a box scrapper if I wanted to try out the tractor and fix some bad spots on my driveway and level out some of the dirt area around my house. I took Ethan up on this kind offer and started to get some of these things done that had been on my list for years. Everything was going pretty good and I did put a good size dent on my long over due chores. It was getting to be dusk and I had one more day to use the tractor so I was pushing to get as much done as possiable. Back and fourth I pushed the dirt around leveling out a nice area on the side of my house that was to be a parking space for the ATV, motorcycle, and work truck. The little tractor wasn't get big bites out of the hard ground on each pass but more of sort of shaving it down. It was getting it done though and I was impressed with its abillity. Lifted the scrapper and backed up to get the next bite when the rear tire sunk down in the new dirt that was built up and over I went. One and a half rolls down the edge and landing on its side. Engine still running and the rear tire spinning on my right shoulder. The whole roll had played out in slow motion and Gods hand must have kept me from serious injury as I kept looking for a safe place to put my body as I was rolling along with the tractor. pulling and scraping along the ground I managed to get my legs out from underneath the tractor avoiding the still spining tire beside me. At first it seemed my leg was stuck but it was my paints caught underneath on somthing and with repeated effort I tore free and slid out away from the moving parts. I was able to get on my feet and stand up felt around for any blood that might be gushing out and was suprised to not find anything. Quickly I lowered the throatle so the engine would stop. Backed away again from the tractor and did or more thorough inventory of my well being. Do not get me wrong I was hurt. My left leg felt numb, my back, shoulders, and head all had been hit or compressed to some degree under the tractor as it rolled. that was tears in my clothing that went through my jeans and my underwear and deep scratches that made it uncomfortable to sit down or wear pants for the next two days. There was blood but for what had just happened I was in good shape. I thanked God right there and praised him for sparing my life. The lights were on the tractor so I went over and turned off the key. Took my a few minutes to collect my thoughts and then I went and got my truck and tow rope to pull the tractor right side up on all four wheels. I remember thinking that after a few more passes with the tractor I was going to stop and get my labadore, Ginger her dinner because it was already half an hour past her normal feeding time. Sure wish I had listened better to that inner voice and stoped right then. I have bent your ears long enough with this lengthy introduction so let me wrap it up. I might have bent the steering colume and definatley broke the steering wheel on one of the inside spokes, broke the turn signal lights on rear fenders as well as bent the fenders some. The exhaust pipe was bent over the engine compartment and it cracked the exhaust manifold. Looked into fixing what I damaged and came up with the only fair thing to do since the parts are not available and bought the tractor from Ethan. This story was shared to give you an idea of who I am. Tell you about how much tractor experience I posses. Put forward two important lessons learned from this adventure. Listen to that inner voice it might have more common sense then the whole rest of your body. Add a roll protection device to your must have items for your tractor along with the front loader and other such things. Oh, and give you just a hint why They call me CRAZY!
