Hello together,

can someone please tell me what that 10mm hole down there is for?

Time to time oil drips out of the hole.

Thanks

That is in the bottom of the clutch housing. Hard to tell from the picture but either your engine seal or transmission seal probably just leaking a little. If not bad then nothing to worry about. There should not be any fluid in there.

Not sure about the 2220 but I know some models have a plug in there, not sure why, maybe to keep rice paddy water out. If your hole is threaded then it might have had a plug at one time, However, if a seal leading a tad I wouldn't put one in there.

Yep, a drain hole for oil leakage into the bell housing. Normally a rubber plug there to remove and drain, prevents dirt dauber nesting in the bell housing. I would put somehing in there. There is also one on each brake housing for the same
purpose.

When I seen mine plugged I was wondering the same thing. I seen this earlier and with it being motor Oil I guessed the same thing. But you housing is different so I wasn't sure that was what it was. Mine came out very easily and nothing drained. And the same thing happens with it out. I put back in since it would cause a small drip. I kid you not! Don't think I don't check it and get Nothing. Leave it out and I get a spot around the size of a Nickel a Quarter a little much after use.:confused2:

Could be either motor or transmission oil leaking into the bell housing. Y'all remind me, I have not checked mine in a few years, but no noticeable oil usage and clutch still works good..

Yea the plug keeps water out when these are operated in submerged conditions. Mine is a threaded metal pipe type plug. You can pull it to see if it leaks. Not a big deal to be in or out since most of us don't operate in 2 to 3 ft of water. A small drip just means you have a weepine seal . Just like a car. Who drives a 35 year old car that doesn't have a weeping seal or 3.

Well @ 5:45 I pulled it. Had to go out back anyways It was 6:30 and not a drip. The plugs Been in all summer If not longer that I can remember. The plug was wet so without a doubt it's Eng. oil by the looks/feel and smell. My guess is with the plug in it creates just enough back pressure to seal it up. Or keep the oil from passing bye it. ?

Hello everybody,

Thanks for all the answers, so I'm a bit calmer now ;)
I noticed it only recently when I started the tractor in cold temparatures with 20 seconds preheating, the first 2-3 minutes it drip out about 10-15 drops of Oil.
After about two hours work I have put the tractor back into the hall and it came overnight maximum of 2-3 drops out.

No thread, just a hole.
