I didn't get much time to mull around the old iron, but I did enjoy that Bear. At the tractor pull friday night there where two beautiful Cockshutt's.

Afternoon pekabu.
I saw one of the Cockshutt's pull (one nice looking clean machine) I must been getting refill of chicken stew in the bread...got a tad chilly setting while watching.
Wish they would hold the pulls on Saturday...makes long day if you have to be at work before sunrise.

I believe they did have some Saturday starting at 10:00. Not positive. It was a bit chilly, but the McCormick MC120 was pretty comfy. :D

Dave,were you the lucky one hitching up to the sled to pull back each time??...I'll say the other McCormick wasn't shabby either. :)

Yes, my son and I finished the night. My left leg was killing me though. I guess they are working on a self propelled unit. Maybe next year. I was checking out the sled and it was an interesting piece of machinary. I can't remember if it was two or three 4 speed trannys', hooked up to a Transfer case, and then a two speed rear end. Air over Hydraulic brakes on the box.

Wasn't the easiest job. At the end of the track I had to push the clutch, yank the rope to disengage the pintle, then dump the clutch so the sled wouldn't hit me. Didn't always work. Backing into the sled if you weren't dead on forget it. Funny thing though, the farther the sled went the harder it was to get going. It really dug in.

Well than you did pretty darn good hitching up,for I notice very times you didn't hitch the first try...even w/the bad lighting.

Wonder if the pulling tractors loosen up the ground which made it little tougher for you to get traction pulling back the sled...hmmm.

Next year I plan on setting up high w/heavier coat and themos of hot coffee.

Thanks. Hopefully less rain. Friday wasn't too bad people wise, but Thursday and Saturday were murder. People were running out of gas waiting to get out! We'll have to try and meet next year.

One feature I love on the bigger tractors is the gear splitter. On the CX's I believe there is a high low, and the MC there is 3 or 4 splits. So I was in 2nd, but started out in 2/1, then without having to let off the gas you slide the button up and it shifts into 2/2, then 2/3... . Not as easy as a hydro but sweet none the less.

I thought of you last weekend setting on your Farmall taking a break just like the photo you posted not to long ago...mowing the hill side...that pic has stick w/me.

If you look real close at the ole F series Farmall you can see the brake cable running from the front steering along the outside of the frame rail back to the rear wheel brake. When you turn the front wheels it engages the brake on the inside tire of the turn. Great idea when the brakes were new and working properly, after a couple years most farmers gave up and cut them loose.
