yesterday\'s task... build a climbing rose trellis

Do you ever take on those tasks that you think will take you half a day to do, and they end up taking a day and a half? I have had 2 climbing rose bushes that I bought back in April and they were still sitting in the growing container. I needed the right spot to put them, and something to climb on.

I was browsing at Lowes one lunch hour, and came across a book on building arbors and such. I found one that caught my fancy.

Having recently sawn up some ERC logs, and with a few 4X4 posts in inventory...I decided to tackle the job.

First picture..... my whack o' cedar.....

last shot. Ok.... the roses have since been planted.... now I still have 6 seedless grapes to plant. I am seeing a grape arbor in my future. Should only take me a day to build....well er...make that 3 days probably.

Take time to stop and smell the roses.... "life is short but sweet for certain".

Pete, I really like that a lot, very nice , But I don't think the roses are going to do very well in those boxes /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Thanks Egon & Nasty. Actually I did plant the box. These were Jackson & perkins and came in that box. You just pull a tab on the top which cuts off the top of the box, then plant the rest. Maybe you can see the top still sticking out...in the attached picture.

a little closer shot.... you can see the top of the box. We just had some wind and rain...which knocked some of the petals off.

Very nice! No, I won't let my wife see those pictures - she might get ideas! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
