So here we go again. This started years ago...tractor starts but dies when I release the key from the starting position. Last year it "solved" itself when I held the key in the sweet spot between start and run position for 60 seconds with the engine running. Then I released the key and BINGO...it kept running for the day. The next day it might start and run perfectly...or maybe I'd have to let it run again with the key not released completely until it "warmed up" for about 60 seconds. When the starting procedure acts correctly I can hear a solenoid(?) clicking....difficult to know where the clicking was coming from as the general rumble of the engine almost covered the sound...but I could definitely here a specific click as the engine stayed running after releasing the key. I just don't know where that click is coming from. This has happened off and on for years. This spring it it's been running beautifully...no problems with starting and running.
I should add that I replaced the starting switch early last year and it helped with the situation for months and months. Maybe I should replace it once again and see what happens???
This morning, sadly,...same ol' problem has reappeared but now, even after holding the key in the sweet spot (between the start and run position) the engine shuts off again when I release the key, no matter how long I hold the key in the sweet spot position. No "clicking" sound. Point me in the right direction??? Please!!!
Thanks in advance for your advice.
