Yet another splitter

Well guys here is a wood splitter i built for my younger cousin, he is 20 im 24 and he is also part owner in it too. We built this together and i tryed to teach him some tips and tricks along the way to achieve a halfway clean looking result. I started out by looking at pics on net of different splitters and then took things i liked and started one. We started this last sun (1-22-12) and just worked on it in evenings after work. This will bring you up to where we are today (thurs 2-2-12) which is mounting valve and testing tgis evening. This is my first splitter build but not my first build. Some of you may have seen my ford 1700 forklift project in customization forum that i delayed to do this. (still parts gathering). The splitter has been built mostly out of gathered parts. I will post specs later.

Thanks. Well the idea behind the way we set it up is to be able to back it over top a elavator to carry split wood up into a pile. I think we are going to add some kind of table around wedge for resplit etc. We are also goin add a boom with 1700lb warn winch to lift bigger chunks on like the 4ft rounds we have. The engine is a 12hp electric start vertical shaft had layin around, the pump is off a compact backhoe had layin around goin try it. Prob will wind up goin with 16gpm 2-stage. The cylinder is 22"stroke 4-1/2 bore. The beam is 10-1/2" high 3/8" thick. We might also try make a seperate log deck thing for a second person to cut 8ft lngths into chuncks and roll dwn a slight grade ramp/table/trough thing to split wedge. Also this may lead to a processor project later who knows lol

Well guys i had to change out ny single stage pump for 16gpm 2-stage and had change out my 2-spool valve for a log splitter 2-spool valve. Other than that wrks good. Goin leave the boom off on this 1 and run it awhile and maybe build another.
