I own a Yanmar 1500D and recently had an alternator-related problem. Maybe someone has a part they can spare or at least some ideas for repair. Here's what happened: The shaft that runs through the alternator became gouged out when the fan-belt pulley loosened up. This shaft is the one that has threads on one end and the flange for the four fan-mounting bolts on the opposite end. Apparently the nut that goes on the threaded end loosened and allowed the bearings and the fan pulley to wobble, thus causing the pulley to cut a deep groove. The hole in the center of the fan pulley is so wallowed out that it is now egg shaped. I need the pulley as well because of the wallowed-out center. Does anyone have the shaft and/or pulley? How about repair ideas if the shaft or pulley can't be found? Thanks to all who read, and especially to those with help or advice. -- Ed Rouze (Prattville, Alabama)
