yanmar 1500
I just purchased this little jem.
This is a fine machine. Can anyone recomend service intervals . This tractor will be used for 3 acres of brush and three acres of bahia grass. I have a bush hog and a rake. My next purchase will be a finish mower. We are in Sumerfield fl and once the rains come, growth will be aggressive.
What is the fluid resevoir with a line leading into the top if the air intake?
How does the charging system work in this model.

what are the recommended fluids and brands for this beauty.
Thanks for the help!

Contact Hoye Tractor and buy their manual. It really helps with some of the maintainance questons and learning about these things.

I would recommend changing the engine and tranny fluids and filters (including fuel) now so you know they are good and fresh. If the fuel may be older, you may want to change the diesel and add Power Service .

Engine oil every 100 hours or less (at least annually)

Tranny every 300 hours or less and use Transmission/hydraulic fluid (like JD 303) NOT lightweight transmission/hydraulic fluid

I asked about finish mowers for the 1500 just a bit ago. I was told by many to limit mower to a maximum of 5feet.

Send a pic of this line into your air intake...I don't think you want water into that! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif It may be the radiator overflow tube that accidently is going to the wrong place...need a pic to know for sure.

There is a small dynamo/charger behind/within the fan housing...there are some really breihgt electrical kindaguys on here that can tell you MUCH more about this.

I am not the Yanmar guru on this sight but I hope I have given some helpful info. I have a 1500(2wd) so I know a wee bit though.

Without a pic.. hard to be sure.. but I'll bet that fluid resevoir is your thermostart bottle.. holds diesel if that is what it is.

Small world I live in summerfield florida as well. Very near 441 and cr-42

May ba a big difference with what the charging system was, and what it is now.. lots of time for 'previous owner' changes since the late 70's.

If you cut once a week.. that brush hog, with sharpened blades will cut almost as nice as a finish mower.. kinda like a shaggy lawn. With practice.. I can cut down to 3" with my rotary cutter.

That must be the thermostart resevoir. I dont think I'd want to use it though. I live off Sunset Harbor rd south of the middle school.

Wow.. you live literally.. 'just down the road' from me.

There are quite a few yanmar owners in the area.

Down by my work, there is a gentleman with a 13XX and then on down a bit more, there is a fellow with a 15xx.

Ther eis also a small grey dealer in ocala..duggan equipment sales.. etc.

nice to meet you 'neighbor'.
