JUST GOT MY TRACTOR, I READ POST FOR 6 MONTHS BEFORE BUYING. ITS A GREAT MACHINE, AND FOR 2300.00 DOLLARS I DONT SEE HOW YOU COULD GO WRONG. IVE BEEN BRUSH HOGING WITH 42 INCH DECK THAT I GOT CHEAP. IT WAS USED BUT WORKS WELL. I DO NO THAT I WANT TO GET AT LEAST A 48 INCH SOON JUST FOR THE EXTRA CUT WIDTH. I HAVE MOWED IN EVERY GEAR(PTO ALWAYS IN FIRST)THE MOST COMFORTABLE TO ME SEEMS TO BE IN HI RANGE, 6TH GEAR, AT FULL THROTTLE DOES ANYONE KNOW THE SPEED OF THE TRACTOR.

At full throttle in 6th, you are going about 5.5 miles per hr. With a 48 inch, I generally run mine in 4th, as I have hilly ground and with no water pump, you may run hot, if you try to go too fast. And you should back off of yours to about 2200 to get the 540 pto speed as at full throttle you are runing it at 588.

I run my YM2000 in 2nd/high. Guess that is 6th. Use a 4' cutter with no problems. If you are cutting thick stuff, you may want to run a little slower or cut higher with another pass.

Your 2000 has a water pump, and his 1700 doesn't have, so it can run hot pretty easy. Plus yours has 3 more hp than his.

I MOWED YESTERDAY FOR ABOUT 2 HOURS STRAIGHT, LIGHT COASTAL MIX ON FLAT GROUND. IT WAS PRETTY HOT FOR NOVEMBER, ABOUT 80 DEGREES. THE TEMP. GAUGE NEVER GOT ABOVE 210. THATS THE FIRST THING I DID TO THE TRACTOR WAS ADD WATER TEMP AND OIL PRESSURE GAUGE. I FIRST PUT A TEE ON THE WATER TEMP GAUGE SO I COULD HAVE BOTH THE LIGHT AND GAUGE, THIS DOSENT WORK, NO READING AT ALL, GUESS THE WATER BY PASSES THE T. THANKS FOR THE INFO ON THE SPEED, I WAS JUST TRYING TO CALCUTE ACRES PER. HOUR. ALSO IM NOT FROM MS, BUT TX, OUTSIDE OF TERRELL.

I'm located in South MS (McComb). My dad graduated from Ole Miss and I graduated from Mississippi State. We don't agree on schools but we both agree that yanmar tractors are tough little machines. We used it to pull logs and for general cleanup after the storm. Never had a problem other than the batt. not holding a charge and starting. Replaced the battery and cables and that fixed the problem.

For the price, I don't believe any other tractor, even comes close to being the tractor they are. Well for that matter I guess I could say for size, weight, and price.
