my neighbor freind that i borrow thier JD 855 always have the thing in 4wd. I am always taking it out!! i have no idea why they run in 4wd all the time. when i go to turn in my "what ever is growing there" yard it tears it up. they mostly bushhog fields with it that are basically flat, not sure why its needed? They do use it for landscape biz maybe 10% of the time doing loader work. for that i can see the 4wd but the rest not sure why
Thanks Winston... I just picked this tractor up... It's not running... The person who owned the tractor died this year early January... The person that sold it said it was not running before he died and the owner was trying to fix it...He said he had been using it for about 5 years with no problems... Then one day it just running and he could not get it started...It looks to be in fair to good shape... I'm going to rebuild it over the winter... I could not test anything, with the thing not running... It would turn over but not start... If I had to guess the rings are shot... I bet the old guy sprayed it with starting fluid... We will see this winter... I picked it for $1200.00 with an almost new SITREX SM-150 Finishing Mower 5FT. I hope I did okay...

yea a parts tractor is worth that and the mower is worth an easy $400 but most likely closer to $500-600 to the right person if really in good shape!
