YM 2200 3 pt lift - new info

Hi all-
Thanks to all for the suggestions. I bypassed my FEL and now my previuosly weak 3 point works fine. Since they both used to work fine together (there has not been any change in the plumbing), I assume that this means the FEL control valve is bad? It is a single stick- up/down and side to side variety. I am thinking of going to Northern Tools and getting another. What do I ask for? I see info about # of spools. What is a spool?

Can't answer your question, but THAT's what I call troubleshooting, ATTABOY!!

Glad you found the problem, before you go buy a new control valve look for a relief valve in the one thats on it now, take it out and see if the o-rings are missing. You'll see a place down towards the end of the valve that should hold an o-ring.
A 2 spool valve is needed to operate a FEL, you need a spool for each operation, loader up and down is 1, bucket in/out is 2.
A spool is a machined metal rod that directs oil under pressure to a function depending on the way it moves (in or out).

How many lines connect the FEL control to the tractor. Mine only has 2. When not in use the FEL valve is a passthrough and the return oil flows through the 3plt circut. If your setup has 3 lines running to the FEL then one of them will route to the trans bypassing the 3pt control valve this would allow the FEl presure releave to dump back to the trans reducing presure to the 3pt.
