Sounds like the old pressure plate was not adjusted properly after being recondition.

Never place a spacer between crank shaft and fly wheel.

Place any spacer between thrust bearing and carrier. Less critical in run out.

That much is true good point.

So as long as the carrier has enough shoulder yes thats a simpler work around for the reason you spec. The ones I work with I have my doubts a person could shim them very much but tractors may well be able to?

Spacers are fairly common in automotive applications to correct clutch fork geometry. fwtw

I'll get to test it in a few days, won't take long to know if it is right. Finding other problems along the way that need fixing. I'm retired, so there is no excuse for putting stuff back together sub standard. Found the VN loader mount for the Koyker 160 is junk. Stripped bolts, junk welds, mixed bolts. Taking the time to upgrade and fix all of the stuff I find along the way with this split. Think the junk FEL mount was the cause of the 5 broken bolts in the bell housing to engine mount. All I can say for sure is that it's going to be much stronger than what I took apart.

That's the same loader I have my mount is very well done I presume its from Koyker it was on it when I got it. I agree on putting things back right I am **** about it to a fault it drove my employees nuts.

I'm sure this mount isn't a Koyker product. Looks like something done in VN. Looks like they scabed together scrap we left there from the war and sent it back to us. Stripped casting threads, mixed bolts, sure nothing put out the door by Koyker. Koyker 160 loader itself is first rate. A little fabrication, drill and tap out the casting 1 size larger. Install allen head grade 8 cap screws, the repair should end up stronger than a koyher mount. Pain to find this stuff, but like you, I can't pass this over. Time is no excuse for passing this stuff over.

Clutch and pressure plate worked out fine. Turns out the .015 cut taken off the surface where the clutch disc rides was well within adjustment range. The pressure plate turned out to be the main problem. It was suggested that it was out of adjustment. Gave that a try and it didn't have enough adjustment left to come up to the same spec the new one had. Tired springs and metal arms worn. All is well that ends well.

Glad to hear you got it going Chris thanks for the update! Hows the loader mount coming along?

Loader mount repaired with 4 new 5/8" NC grade 8 allen head cap screws. Solid as it's going to get. Got a new high cap hyd pump from Hoye at the same time. The high cap is about the loader speed. Unfortunately, it was set up to tight at the factory and sheared the drive key within 30 seconds. I'm sure they will make it right though, good people to deal with. No hyd lock going on for sure, checked with compressed air. Drop the fulid again, remove the pump, and wait. Hope I don't have much more to do to it for years to come, or I can sure wish for that,
Chris
