Sometimes I wonder what causes more damage - age, poor maintenance, or previous owners.

Yesterday I went to make a drawbar. I found on the forum that there are three holes under the trans that are used to bolt a drawbar to. First thing I did was to remove that plate that was used for the 3-point arms stabilizer chains. I took the first bolt out and trans fluid came pouring out! I noticed there was a rubber sealing surface and the plugs were only held in by a couple of threads.

So a previous owner has used drain plugs to attach this steel plate. The steel plate wasn't even deburred where the holes were drilled.

I can see why they were drain plugs for each side. I had a Mitsubishi that was the same. hopefully they are strong enough not to break the case. cant imaging how much work it would be to fix that.

I removed the plate and reinstalled the drain plugs and will not attach anything to them.

The three holes for the drawbar are in the tunnel between the two drain plugs. Hopefully they will be strong enough for light duty. I've read of others here on the forum installing a drawbar at that location.
