Well, I am looking at buying a low end rotary cutter for my YM1500. It will probably be a King Kutter, and of course will be a 4 footer, but....
King kutter has a 4' model that weights 420lbs, cat 1 hitch, and they have the XB version for compact tractors that is 400lbs. From the website I cannot see much difference between the two, other than the XB has two wheels. Which would be better for the 1500, or does it matter. My TSC only has the regular 4' cutter and not the XB one is stock, so if it does not matter, then I could be shredding tomorrow.

Thanks,

Rowdy

It may work ,but A 4 ft cutter seems a little big for a 1500.

I have a 4' John Deere cutter on my 1500D. It works great, but then I have cut only grass. Don't know how it would do in heavier stuff.

He may be ok. I had a 4 ft on an fegurson that was a wore out 20 - 25 ? hp .I guess he has about 18 HP.I have a 3110 & 5 ft cutter, if I get into thick stuff I have to slow down.I would look at a light weight cutter vs heavy duty

When I had my 1500, I used it regularly with my 4-foot Howse. The Howse has a single wheel in the back, and I believe it weighs about 480 lbs. If I could drive over something, it would chop it up. It took really heavy grass, being cut very low, to bog it down. You should have no problem with the standard KK 4-footer and a 1500.

Just make sure you have an over-running clutch on your PTO -- the mower will keep pushing the tractor forward even with the clutch pushed down if you don't have one installed.

Good luck,
Knute

Do you have a web site for one of these? Wonder if they make the XB in a 5'.

Well, went with the regular 4ft cutter, versus the XB one. It was cheaper, and it was in stock.

It seems to cut small (1 inch) brush pretty good, but as one would figure, it is bit of weight on a light tractor. Really need to get some suitcase weights, and the tires loaded. I did not run it much today, had alot of boxblade work to do.

The KK cutter is a pretty crappy shredder overall. Couldn't get the lower drain plug off, there are two different size grease zerks on the deck, etc. Perhaps it is because I am used to 20ft batwing shredders that cost more than my land did. Dunno.

The 1500 is a strong little tractor. It is hard for a big fat american to run, and since the last job I had running equipment was on a a D-9, I have to learn to take smaller bites, but this machine is very strong, and could be more than a little dangerous if someone wasn't careful. I think once I get some more weight on the front end it will be a good little tractor.

As for the link to the XB stuff, check out King Kutter Incorporated

you could buy an adapter & add water & antifreeze to your tires for weight (I did ) Be careful on that little tractor with that cutter if you don't have a R.O.P.S. Why would have to take the drain plug out of a new cutter gear box (I assume ) ?

KingKutter ships with the gear box dry, you have to add it yourself. I never did get the lower plug out (going to have to fix that.) Ended up having to use a straw as a dipstick of sorts to get it close enough to full to test the cutter.
