YM1510d front knuckle broke?..

So I have been looking for another tractor and have found a YM1510d, however I have not seen this tractor nor can I go see it, to far away, but I am willing to have it shipped for the right price. Anyways in the description the owner states "About a year ago, we noticed that the driver-side front transfer joint (the one that powers the front driver-side wheel) was not working." and goes on to say that it runs fine in 2wd. Would anyone have an idea of what has happened to it or how hard or expensive it would be to repair this? Any advise would be appreciated.

The 1510 4wd axle is unique to that one model and there are some gears in that knuckle that are close to impossible to find.

Thanks Aaron, I think you just answered my question. I was hoping it would be an easy fix, but not knowing what it is could be an expensive gamble.

Wow. Does YM186D have that same axle? Maybe those shouldn't use a loader.

The guy in Oregon is scrapping a YM186D. Maybe he has an axle complete. But shipping would be expensive.

The 186D axle is significantly different. I don't think any front axle parts will interchange. You might be able to swap the axle out as an assembly though. I don't know.

See now I am wondering about my decision of the YM1510d. I am wanting a loader for it and I would always be on the cautious side when using it, but at the same time things can always happen. If the front axle is that rare then maybe I should reconsider?

I would wait for the one to appear that's suitable. That one with unobtainable broken parts would be a frustration-maker.

Yeah I am definitely not going to get that one now, to bad too because it was pretty cheap. I was really excited about getting a ym1510d but it does worry me that the front axle is so unique and parts are impossible to find like Aaron had stated. So not sure what I will do, keep looking for a 1510d or find something in its size category instead.

The 1510D is a neat little tractor and very well built. I have used several with loaders over the years and have never broken anything. If you just use the tractor like an expensive tool and take care of it then there is a very good chance you will never need any axle parts. However, if you want a tractor to abuse then the 1510D with a loader is not going to be my first choice. There is a big difference between carefully scooping up a load of dirt and ramming into a pile doing a full throttle power hop.
