YM200/YM240 Water Leak

Hi All,

I am trying to resolve a water/coolant leak on the left side of my engine. I have attached 3 pictures. I have replaced the clamps for my main 2 bottom hoses and have plugged the 1 water line coming out from the block (was already plugged before).

I noticed the large cast iron area (hump) where the lower hose comes into the block and thought that maybe the block had a crack in this area. Does anyone know if this model tractor has a known problem in this area?

Correction. YM2000 not YM200.

Are you talking about #45 being plugged? If so, wonder why? Have you checked making sure where the fitting for #45 screws in the block is not leaking? Yanmar Tractor Parts: COOLING_SYSTEM

It may be plugged cause he has the radiator without the little tube by the lower hose (cause there are 2 types those with and without the tube), therefore he dont need the block drain, that connets to the Radiator drain?

Does anyone know if this model tractor has a known problem in this area?

I've owned one since 2003 and have been reading here a little longer. Yours is the first one I've seen leak, aside from a couple of new owners who bought their Yanmar with obvious freeze damage.

Hose #45 goes from the bottom of the radiator to the block outlet shown in your photo. It seems to be intended for draining both.

Mine had an unusual leak I discovered in my initial 'renovation'. The lower radiator hose was new but the sloppy-loose fanbelt had already nicked it. I wrapped it with 10mil electrical tape plus a stainless hose clamp over the nicked portion shielding the point where the belt touched it. (And adjusted the belt!) After seven years running with this patch, no problem yet.

Have you took a close look behind the starter? I don't know if the 2000 has a freeze plug behind the starter or it may have another plugged hole there. If nothing looks to be leaking there, I would look closely around the head and head gasket area.

That small capped off hose usually has a plug in the block which is probably a British thread. California may have had some experience with other threads that will also fit it.

My guess Freeze Plug. It's in a water port that runs behind the starter or the Lower circle in the pic. behind the wires on mine. If it's there on yours. If so it May have done just what it was designed to do. The other Line Blk/fuel runs through the Drain Cock to the radiator. It's right under the Side Panel. Your pluged Line looks to be to far forward IMO. The pics. are of my ym2000 that is still the factory setup I believe.

I think his is the same place yours is, may be the angle of the photo. I like that idea. I have a plug closer to the front of my engine that should work the same for a drain line and valve. Beats using the radiator plug that gets water everywhere when you use it.
