Anyone ever use a 1972 Datsun 510 alt. as a replacement. I can see light in my alt. like a burned up wire. I used a 510 volt. reg. and it worked great and fit perfect.

Works for me. 3 years and no problems. And the rebuilt alternator didn't cost much at AutoZone.

The standard one that is a perfect match on dimensions is 35 amps. The one for 72 Datsun with A/C is 50 amps and is fatter, so that one might need a longer adjuster arm and belt. (Yanmar's Hitachi alternator was only 15 amps.)
