YM2000 Fluid \"jar\" going to carb-What\'s if for?

There is a small (about 2 ounces) fluid reservoir mounted on top of the engine next to, and connected to the carb via 1/4 inch hose, with a ground wire at the carb end. Can anybody tell me what this is, and what fluids to put in it...Thanks.

That bottle is for the Thermostart. It is a glow plug substitute. You fill it with diesel fuel.

In your profile you list a 2820 and a 3110 also. You will probably find those bottles on those tractors as well. You have quite a collection there.

Yea, I have two small ranches here in So. California. I bought two refurb's out of Texas, the last one being the 3110D. I picked up the YM2000 at the same time for a neighbor who needed a small tractor for bush-hogging, but his check bounced. Will probably be selling it.

Though no one has said it.. I'm guessing you were refering to the intake manifold.. and not 'carb' .

For the diesel mechanics out there.. this brings up a good question. While I've seen old iron that had a vaporizing carb for distilate or kerosene burning.. would diesel work in those engines as well?.. Kinda neat to think of a diesel witha a carb...

Thanks for the correction. Hose does connect to the intake manifold. After learning what its for, living in So. California, with no real cold temperatures, won't be using this option.

You might as well wait until you need it to fill it. The fuel would go bad before you would use it it in your location. The gooy stuff left behind would be a problem for the next guy.
