We got quite the snow fall this weekend. I keep my tractor under a deck in the back of the house. I tried to drive the tractor after the storm, around the front to start plowing. I got about 5 feet. The tractor with chains and loaded tires wanted nothing to do with moving. There was just to much snow underneath it. So...after a lot of swearing and I was actually soaked with sweat I lugged a 100 pound winch through 30 inches of snow to a tree and winched the tractor up and into the yard. Did that a total of three times to get the tractor in the driveway. I was exhausted. I felt like I was in an iron man competition. I then had to shovel under, in front and in back of the tractor to get some room to maneuver. The best way to explain it was if someone dropped 30 inches of soil in your driveway and you had to bucket it out. Took me a long time and over Saturday and Sunday we got every driveway clear on all 6 neighbors. I wish I took some pictures, but at the time I was spitting nails. Even trucks with plows were getting stuck - just too much snow to move. We still have limited access on streets but at least you can get into town if needed.

One plowing tip is to "plow with the storm." I try to plow every 8 inches, which I dutifully did Friday night. But even I was caught by surprise when I woke up the next morning and there was 20 more on the ground. For the next big storm I'll be better about setting my alarm clock for 3 am.

I was going to advise this! Hate to say it but i dont think you will wait till all 2.5feet finish falling to play on the tractor!! If you did it after 6-10's you would have done it all from the seat of the tractor!!
