YM220D loose gear shift assembly

I have a YM220D with a loose gear shift assembly. Opened it up and found a broken spring, and 2 worn shift lever guides. One guides left and right, the other front and back. Looks like Hoye has the spring used but not the other parts. Do these shift lever guides look serviceable?

May not help but part # for top guide is 194361-27372-x possibly changed to 194361-27372-f. Although maybe not stocked Hoye is showing a price of $8.70. My thought here is the part can't be that complicated to sell that cheap.

Part # for bottom guide is 194150-27260 and is shown at a marine dealer for $6.95. Doubt you can buy it there but again must not be to complicated for that price.

the 220 being US sold would make these parts available to you from any Yanmar dealer. I doubt they are available but phone calls are cheap.

If it were me I would try to repaiir or make new ones. Pictures in manual indicate the slots just have straight sides.

Winston, thanks so much for the reply. The part numbers were extremely helpful. Hoye had the spring used, and the gasket. My local dealer found the lower shift guide though they had to order it and it took forever. Looks like I will be taking the upper guide to the machine shop to have it fixed or manufactured.

I'm looking for two more part numbers if you can work your magic again. New to me tractor and I'm trying to get it back to original if possible. It's missing the fender grab bars, and the left warning light housing for battery/water temp is damaged. If I can't find the grab bars, I'll have those manufactured when I take the upper shift lever guide in. The warning light housing will be more difficult to repair. I know I can go to gauges but I would really like to go with stock parts if possible. Hoye wants to know the part numbers?

Assist bar 194740-70270. Thinking it is the same one used on the 2000 and probably many other models. Hoye does not show to stock it but I would be surprised if they didn't have used ones. Not sure about the warning light housing. Sending you a PM.

Update on the loose gearshift assembly...

I haven't had time to get the top shift lever guide remanufactured so I reinstalled the old one because I need the tractor for landscaping. I'll update later on the guide.

Turned out that Hoye did not have the shifter spring after all. They checked all the parts tractors in back and every one had a broken spring. So after a lot of searching, we were able to order a spring from McMaster-Carr PN #1692K43 for about $7.00. The top and bottom diameter of the new spring are very close to the original, but it's taller yet more compressible which worked out perfect.

Here's a pic of the new and old spring. I put tape on the broken spring for the pic. Also a pic of the new spring installed. It fit nicely. Best of all, it shifts great. It's been on about 25 tractor hours so far. It was a nice find considering we couldn't find the part anywhere.

Thanks for the update and part numbers. Will help another person in the future for sure, esp if it was a common a problem for all of Hoyes parts tractors to have the same issue.
