I juts purchased a YM2210, can anyone tell me if the 3 Dummy lights should light up when I turn the key to the "on" position (not crank it). Currently only the "charge" light come on, should all 3 light up?

If not, how can I test the other lights (temp / oil) to make sure they work?

Thanks.

If its a 2210, not a 2210B then I think it has the same 3-across lights like my Yanmar.

Alt and Oil lights (middle and right side) should light when the switch is turned on and stay lit until volts and oil pressure reach normal.

Temp is really a boilover warning. To test it slip a grounded wire into its connector at the front of the block. That should light the Temp bulb. You might try the same thing at the oil pressure sender to see if the sender tests bad but more likely there is a broken wire between there and the dash, or else its bulb is bad.

You can test the bulbs by swapping them around. Look underneath and be careful removing the bulb-holder assembly. On mine the plastic had disintegrated plus the 'bus' strap providing power to all three bulb sockets was so corroded that it was unreliable. I replaced the lampholder assembly as part of my minor renovation after I bought the tractor.

It is a 2210. The Oil lamp doesn't light.
I guess I test it the same way? with the ground wire. If it lights with the ground wire does that mean the oil sender doesn't work?

If you pull the wire off of the oil pressure sender and ground it to the block and the bulb lights up, then yes the sender is bad. Luckily the part isnt very expensive and very easy to change.

Day late and a dollar short :D but I found a picture I posted here long ago.

When I bought this 1981 YM240, its lamp socket assembly was too disintegrated to stay plugged into the back of the dash. Nothing else on the tractor was decayed like that, so the white material must have been a bad batch of plastic or something.

I think this points out how these elderly 99.9% steel tractors are going to age better than more recent ones with a lot of plastic content.

As part of my renovation I bought two replacement lamp assemblies. I installed one and stored the one pictured here for eventual future use after maybe another 30 years.
