Hello all, I am new to the board and have gotten a lot of useful info here.
I am looking for a tractor to do mostly snow removal with a FEL and mowing, maybe a snowblower later on. The ym 2210 seems very popular and I like the idea of the Powershift. My question is Why was the 2210 only made 1 year if it is so popular? Also does anyone know of a dealer anywhere where near Rochester MN?
Thanks.

I'm not sure that many folks familiar with the Yanmar line look at models produced as one year only consider them unpopular or difficult to acquire parts. There are only a few exceptions that are considered 'Orphans, very few produced, sold and actually end up imported to the U.S.

What you see with the model YM2210 is a culmination of previous year models developed and tested and designed into that tractor. Manufacturing and engineering higher ups took the best features and elinimated anything suspect or potentially problematic and the YM2210 is the result.

The evolution to that year and years following, utilized that platform, transmission, frame and 4WD componets to further develope and offter newer features...but kept the basic, simple, durable and proven basics. I believe it's that last, biggest and only two cylinder model offered with a powershift transmission.

The YM2210 is only one of many different models that evolveld the same way.

Mark already said it more elegantly but I'll add what was on my mind anyway.

I've thought about upgrading to a 2210 because it is near identical to my YM240(YM2000) but the 2210's shuttle shift, shift while moving, transmission would be a valuable feature in my sloping orchard.

The YM2000/2210 family has to be the best supported of any gray market model. For example right now on Ebay I see new replacement water pumps listed for that family, under $100.

Think of the 2210 as the ultimate step in the gradual evolution of their 2 cylinder tractors. Also as a transitional model, as Mark said, everything but the 2 cylinder engine continues on in later models.

Well Mark said it better than I can. I'm simply drooling over that 2 cylinder torque combined with a transmission I could shift up or down while moving up/down/across the slopes on my place. My full stops to choose the right gear are a nuisance.

I fell in love with the 2000 when we got our first one. It took me a little while to warm up to the 2210 just because it cost a bit more, but eventually I realized that the HP difference and the weight difference (close to 400# in 2wd and 300# in 4wd) made the 2210s capable of much more work than the 2000s. I still love the 2000 for it's economy and value, but a 2210 will seriously outwork one.

LMTC, (or anybody with comments) :

My YM240(YM2000) is clearly a size smaller than an old Ford 8N.

Is the 2210 also smaller than the 8N, or about equal, in weight and drawbar pull? How about for a rotary mower?

The 2210 gives up around 400# and a little size, and winter starting (gas vs diesel). As far as power, it will eat it for lunch, other than what it lacks in weight; power without the weight for traction is useless, as in many of the newer CUTs with high HP ratings and weights in the teens. The "N" tractors' primary limitation is lack of a low range; they are too fast for many tasks. All the Yanmars shine in availability of gear ranges.
