I have a YM2210BD with Powershift and the shift lever pin holes are worn so that is doesn't shift into neutral properly. The small pivot pin is also rusted into the shaft so that it can't be removed while the shift tower is in place. I need to remove this so I can repair the lever it but I am not sure how to remove the shaft without damaging anything internal. I have the parts manual but it shows a different style shifter than I have.
Should the shaft slide out the side? I loosened the large nut on the side but the shaft did not move easily. Can I safely remove the shift tower without everything falling apart?
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Steve

I have the same model and had a similar problem. The shift lever is most likely ok and the problem is wear on the pin. I did take or at least start to take the tower off. I just do not remember if it just lifted out or had a cotter key involved. Really seems I took it completely off. I replaced the pin with a high grade bolt and have not had any problem since. It is dark, windy and 20 something degrees here now, I will follow up with a post likely by 4 tommorrow afternoon after I can look at mine in the daylight. All in all it was an easy fix, just cramped and hard to get in a good position for an old fat man.

I know I took the 4 bolts out and picked up the tower to see how it all went together and I believe the linkage was easily separated. I think I reemed the shaft hole just enough for the non threaded shank of the bolt to slip in. Cut the shank a bit longer than the original pin, put it in and let gravity hold it in. If the holes on the shifter fork are worn just weld flat washers on the fork. Wish I could be more help, it has been a while since I did this fix.

Thanks for the info. I will give it a shot this weekend.

I have the same tractor, and had the same problem with the powershift lever. The unthreaded pin that holds the fork assy was worn and not allowing the lever to travel full range, thus, it was being restricted by hitting the shift plate. I drilled the pin out, installed a bolt/nut, and reamed the shift plate to allow for future play if it happens again.

A little more help please?
Thanks to the previous info I have repaired the shift lever holes and made a pin with a nice snug fit and the shifter is working well. The shifter "gate" plate was pretty worn and had been opened up with a cutting torch. I assume to let it shift into reverse. I welded up the plate and remachined the gate openings and it is working pretty well N-1-2-3but I would like to tune up the Neutral- Reverse gate shape though. Can anyone provide a picture of what the original gate opening shape was? A picture with a known item for a size reference would great.
Thanks again for the help.
Steve
