YM226D Won\'t come out of 4WD

I looked at a YM226D today. Looked good and ran good until I noticed it was in 4WD. I asked how to take it out and the guy told me the lever was broke it just flopped back and forth.
He told me it was a was an eazy fix and common in Yanmars for this to happen but he was to busy to do it. I think this guy was lying to me by the way he was acting. So what do you guys think it would cost and is it a major repair?
He also told me he bought it new I thought this was a gray market tractor but I could not find this model number.

YM 226D, nice tractor. Made for America, not a grey market tractor. Either a roll pin or shaft as indicated by Kenmac and his reference to previous post.

226D, nice tractor 22 hp, about 18 or so on the pto, build for US market, parts are no problem. 4wd problem is not uncommon, more then likely only a 20 cent rollpin, about the only other thing it could be is the gear actuator linkage inside, that can be welded or bought for about $ 50 had the same problem on mine, ended up being the linkage. About the only bad thing about that is that it means draining all 5 gallon of hydrolic fluid, but probably be a good idea to change that anyway.226 is a nice tractor, right size, right amount of power for general use, don't let it slip away, you will be sorry later
