YM2310D clutch inspection?

When I engage the clutch I can hear a slight noise from the throwout bearing. I would like to put a little oil on it. I've notice a rubber plug in the side of the bell housing and wonder if it might be possible for me to use a seeSnake type borescope with small oil tube attached and oil the throwout bearing. Anybody tried any such?

I'm thinking that may be a sealed bearing and might not be able to get oil in it. Might be able to oil the bushings in the bearing carrier. Might or might not help. Don't think you can harm anything trying.

Thanks for your thoughts on it Winston. I would certainly rather NOT split the tractor for a bearing swap. I'm probably gonna give it try anyway.

The only fix is replacement. EVERY stickshift vehicle needs a throwout bearing from time to time.

Right, when the bearing fails it will be replaced. That said, I have driven old cars with noisy throwout bearings for years. A little oil can go a long way on a bearing just starting downhill. I'm gonna try to oil it. I will post my experience with it here.

The oil will last about 10 minutes then it will burn off, I have done that to test a T/O bearing before we replaced it.

Does the throwout bearing spin all the time or just when the clutch is pressed? The audible difference is slight, but I do hear a noise when the clutch is pressed.

I'm sure wanting it to go for more than 10 minutes. Maybe I better start a gravity feed oiler in on it instead.
