YM2310D Powershift Transmission Problem

Sounds like you have had a big mess in there. It needs to be flushed till all the gunk is gone. I might consider filling it to the brim with diesel, let set a little while, then drain out. Continuing to replace transmission/hydraulic fluid is going to be expensive. I am thinking your drop box on the 4 wheel drive should have a drain plug and possibly one on the axle housing, maybe not, but might take a close look.

Flushing with diesel, likely several times, sounds like the only way to get it cleaned out.

You might add 10% UTF to assure adequate lubrication then idle it a while before the first flush, then for hours for subsequent flushes to dilute all the crud. So long as you don't run the tractor under load, diesel mixed with utf and oily sludge should be adequate lubrication to not hurt anything.

Yes it was a big mess in there. I did fill the sump with diesel and let it sit for a while and stirred it up by hand but I never started the tractor because I wasn't sure if the diesel would hurt anything running through the system.
Luckily I am able to keep it under its cover again so it wont have to be out in the weather like that again.

Diesel is just ultra-thin oil with most of its lubricating ability distilled out. So in this application it is a suitable solvent for that mess. (Assuming you mix in a little UTF for lubricity if you are going to start the tractor).

Yes, flush cold to get as much crud out as possible. Then after that you need to circulate the fluid to get to the rest of it.

Makes sense. I am thinking I got most of the crud out as I could without running it. I think I will run it a bit to warm up what is in there then drain that and start flushing with diesel to try and get the rest of it out like you said.

The one I wasnt draining is the one on the 4wd drop box and my filter screen is located with the one on the axle housing which is my lowest drain point. Most of the junk had built up in the bottom of the sump right above the 4wd drop box. I guess it all broke loose once I started it up after it had sat out for awhile.

"I didn't realize there were 2 drains for the hydraulic fluid and I had only been draining from the lowest one where the screen was"..... "This is when I realized there was another drain for it and once it drained it was full of that sludge there".... "Are there only 2 drains for the trans/hydraulic fluid on the 2310d?"

Where is the "second" drain located? I'm about to undertake the same project. ;-)

tonyg2160 I have a drain that is at the lowest point between the rear tires and is also where the filter screen is. If you go forward some there is another drain that is directly underneath the gear box where you can choose your range. It is on the part that drips down for the 4wd. They aren't that far from each other I was able to use one bucket for both drain into too. So far so good with me. I did loader work and spreading gravel all last weekend. I am going to be replacing my shifter boot to be on the safe side though.
