Hi guys and gals.

I've just finished fitting a rebuilt steering box in my old YM2000.

To do this I had to remove the bonnet and dashboard assembly, the fuel tank and remove all the electrics in the process.

Problem is, I have one wire that I can't account for.

There is a green wire with a male bullet connector coming out of the steering column about halfway down facing the front of the tractor.

I can remember disconnecting it when I removed the column but, for the life of me, I can't remember what it was connected to.
It doesn't show in the wiring diagram and I don't seem to have any left over wires to match.

It would seem to be an earth wire and I don't know if I have lost a connecting wire in the process.
I have been working in a shipping container with not a lot of light and a lot of mess.

Any help would be appreciated.

The only thing I can think of is that it may be one of the turn signal light + wires. See if you don't have another female bullet end wire somewhere on the chassis. Or, it could be part of the clutch safety switch if yours has one.

just guessing.

I looked at the wiring diagram for the YM195 (YM1700). I believe that they are the same. the white/green goes to the left turn signal.

Me too. And I don't think this steering column has ever been apart. It must not be important. :)

I surmise it was pre-wiring for some option that we don't have.

Thanks folks.

The people at Hoye got back to me.
Apparantly it's a ground for a horn in the middle of the steering wheel that didn't come with my model.

Oh, and sorry about the typo, he's a YM2000.

I went and looked at my YM1700 and for the first time actually noticed the wire. I would assume it was for a horn option on the button that we don't have.
