Ok, quick question. A business near me has an old York rake up for bid. I was able to take a look at it and, well, it's old... probably 20 years old. Seems to be in working order. It has all of the tines and they are all the same shape and size... none broken or bent in the opposite direction. The guy who has used it said that the last time he used it (5 years ago) worked fine and that it has only been used a few times. Wheels are missing from it. It's a 7' rake so it's rather large for my B7610. I have NO idea what model # it is since it's rusted. I'm simply looking for something that will sit in my woods and I can use on my driveway, some trail grooming, and landscape work.

Anyway my questions...

How much would YOU pay for something that is old, rusty, and in need of wheels that look like they run about $150 or more.

Will it work with my B7610 realizing that the size may be an issue.

And finally, is there anything particular I should be check into before bidding on this. I'm thinking things like the angling system or other controls or adjustments that may be prone to damage.

Thanks for the help!

Stoweski:

I would check to see if you can stll "angle" the rake.

Offer $150 to cover the cost of gauge wheels and you might get the rake for "free". What materials you are moving determines how big a rake you can use . I believe that your tractor is 24 HP and you can probably work that size rake; you can always remove the outer tines if the rake is too large. I "lucked out" with a Woods LR108 (8'); it still needs a few tines but it has gauge wheels. I got mine for free :D; all I had to do was extract it from a junk pile. Some people would say I should pull a 7' rake as I have a 29 HP tractor, but so far I have not had any difficulty maintaining my gravel driveway and/or leveling dirt/clay in my "yard/field". I have not had any difficulties moving brush debris. Good Luck- Jay
