I've read a couple articles that they are trying to develop a biofuel by cooking wood chips in some kind of fancy pressure cooker - sounds like they'd have a good amount of raw material available from just the tree crews... Of course they probably wouldn't get to set up the plant near a suburban area due to the NIMBY attitudes...

I've always wondered if you could somehow turn wood chips into wood pellets? They must compress them someway to make pellets, then they could be used for fuel in pellet stoves.
