I have to load up and run field repairs and have 2 heavy metal toolboxes that I grab along with whatever else I HOPE I need.
But, often it means 2 trips anyway.
Can't have a "designated" tool vehicle, how do you guys do this without having another complete set of tools in many carry boxes? The load/unload is inevitable for me, I guess I need to start a checklist.
Hate buying 2 of everything.

I bought "Quality" tools before I had kids and there for the next 20 years I bought cheap tools because I never knew where my little helpers were going to leave or lose them. Fast forward 50 years and I have scads of tools, enough to outfit all my vehicles as well as the house, barn and garage. I have found that I don't need the Brand Names to get the job done.

I would put together a traveling set of tools.

I have that now and it is growing substantially. But then, jack, stands, impacts, OY!!

One of my favorite new tools is the 3,000 pound capacity aluminum floor jack. Sure handier than the heavy old NAPA steel floor jack.

I guess the bigger question to me is what are you planning to use the tools for when you get there?

I vote for any tool that is a force multiplier, e.g. cordless impact wrench, air tool, etc., gets my vote. It helps me get the mobile jobs done faster.

I have scavenged garage and estate sales for years, and can duplicate most standard tools, though not all of the large sized open end wrenches, which are a grab and go item.

All the best,

Peter

Do you have a easy to load a pallet at your shop? I built a service pallet that I can load in the back of the truck with ease. Also can take it on the forks anywhere on my place. It only has a few things I need but you could make one to carry whatever you need. Everything is mounted to a plastic pallet.

Several years ago we picked up a 16 ft heavy-duty enclosed trailer with AC on the roof I believe for $1,800 to use for a temporary situation while we're tore down the old garage we just haven't got around to doing that part yet. :)

Son did saw down trees that was blocking moving it since I stopped using Roundup several years ago.

I probably have several of a lot. I do field work. But you could get a trailer and put a cross bed tool box along each side, the one lid type work better put a board across front and rear of trailer so you won't lose things. I have to carry a crane, air compressor, welder, cutting torch, so a service truck works best. I like to have it all when I get there. "Some of it" is always bad when you don't have what you need.
