Well, admitting my stupidity sorta dashed my enthusiasm:
but the issue of the linkage modification is still pending,
as another local yahoo, asserting
Personal Knowledge, Experience, and General all around Excellence,
persuaded my meek and retiring selfness to let him reverse my almost completed modification,
with the guarantee that he'd replace the steering bands if it didn't work.

The gentleman's restoration modification was , uh, un-suck-cess-full,
and he has magically disappeared hisself into thin air,
leaving me the opportunity to re-do the whole damned shitaree.

With even less remaining friction material to attempt to "save",
I regret to note.

But I'll finish it, or die.
