Z-Force 50, Kohler smoking?

I bought the Z-Force 50 a month ago, and love it. It starts great, cuts perfectly, and the power is very good, however, I am wondering about the Kohler 23 HP.

In all my 51 years I have never owned a Kohler of any kind, so I have to ask. Does anyone else, with the same engine, get a lot of blue smoke when starting? Hot or cold, choke or no choke, I get a lot of smoke when starting up.

With only 25 hours and one oil change, I thought the smoking may go away, but alas, it hasn't, and today I noticed it smokes a very little when running at idle. Not much, but I noticed it while it idled in my pole barn.

Would like other peoples thoughs on this matter.

Kohler did have a problem with reed valves not seating completely duue to the bolt that fastened it raised the top thread on the block and this would cause the seating problem. Solution was to remove head and redo the valve bolt hole. ( Probably countersunk it so valve could seat properly. There was mention of useing all new head bolts also. You may want to mention this to your dealer. They may want you to put a few more hours on it to make sure it gets broke in totally.

If there is a puff of blue or white smoke when first starting up and then it goes away then don't worry about it...Kohler won't worry about it I promise you that.

Knowing that you know what you are stating, I appreciate the information. Will document this with the dealer, and move on, with a 2 year warranty, there is no reason to panic.

I have the Kohler Command 25 in my 3235 and I don't see any smoke at startup or while running. My old single jug 1450 with a Kohler engine never smoke either, even with 1100 hours.
