Zamboni/Olympia ice resurfacer

Hello,

Just wondering if anybody has any leads on one of these units....lawn tractor size or CUT sized.
Used as new is WAY to expensive for my tastes.
Canada would be great, northeast states also.

Sorry, no leads for you. If you had a something like hydrostatic Wheelhorse tractor it would be a fun DIY project.

You don't say why you need one?
TV show "How It's Made" showed them making one.
They are complicated to get good results.

A friend has a walk-behind Model, I値l find out if it was made or bought.

To resurface manually, snow or ice chips are swept off with shovels or push brooms, usually done by kids on skates.

The ones I致e seen had a 55 gallon drum on a wheelbarrow frame, with a 4-5 section of pipe with holes, Teed off with a valve from the barrel. On the Zamboni wiki page, they show one that has an added canvas flap to help spread the water more evenly.

This is pretty heavy and unwieldy, and you have to either pull it or walk on wet ice.

Early Ariens Sno Thros (and a similar Toro product) had a detachable two wheel tractor unit that is easy to adapt as a pusher.

And turns out there are a ton of YouTube videos, including some that use Propane to melt the surface.

No leads here but you do live in North Bay, Ontario. I would think that if there's local knowledge about those things anywhere, North Bay would be the place. Ask at a few local rinks to see how they do it.

There are plenty of "spreading water" videos and ideas...it's the ice shaving I'm interested in.

It's wicked cold out this week so not even trying to go out and screw around with water.
