zerk fittings.

I have a new to me 2006 Ag King 2840 ( Jinma 254) that I am trying to get running and caught up on the maintenance of it. I am looking for the number of zerk fittings and the locations of the zerk fittings. Is there a list or number of zerk fittings for this tractor? I dont want to miss any and I want to be sure I get them all greased. The manual I got for it does not have a number or locations of the fittings. I am new to tractors and I just want to be sure I keep this one running good for a long time. Thanks for the help and information.

The best way to learn where all the grease fittings are is to closely inspect the entire tractor, top to bottom hand over hand, including the engine and all the pedal and hand linkages. Do it slowly so you will familiarize your self with the tractor. I would never rely on a publication that could possibly be outdated anyway.
Is that the original owner's manual that you have?

That is good advice. While you are at it, take a metric wrench set with you and check that everything is snug. Chinese hardware combined with a diesel engine knock tends to loosen all by itself... I cannot count the number of never loosened nuts and bolts I have tightened. Expect a zerk fitting at every piece that moves(pedals, steering linkages, loader pivots), and near every place that may have a bushing located inside like the rear axle...

Thank you. I will hopefully go over the tractor from top to bottom this weekend and check everything, finally got the hydraulics all figured out and working properly.

That's good advice from Bob Rooks. I got the latest, up-to-date version, all revisions & up dates included, owners manual, with my brand new 2009 M6040. HA - 2X HA - - it didn't show four zerks and on top of that - it didn't show the turbo boost engine. AFAIK - this manual is still the latest, up-to-date version.

Great advice

This is the same procedure we gave to our equipment operators on the farm. The best way to familiarize oneself with the workings of the machine in addition to lubrication points.

As a apprentice operating engineer everyone was given a grease gun of their own on day one. Next you picked a machine and were told to grease every thing. Most often missed was the center zerk on the front axle of a case backhoe.
