Zerk Spits Out Grease

I have a flail mower -- three or four years old -- and one of the rotor grease fittings will not accept grease. After I pump the grease gun a few times and remove from the zerk, the grease comes shooting back out -- like from a can of cheese-whiz.
I removed the zerk and it seems okay. Any suggestions on what's going on? The rotor spins fine and the mower continues to cut nicely.

Change the zerk, ball not checking off.

Yes, put on a new zerk. Old one has been damaged and is not sealing properly. Like katoomed00 said.............

Sometimes you can free it up. I hate replacing zerks- always stripping one, getting the wrong size - etc.

Confirming problem was the zerk. I couldn't locate a 6mm metric replacement so I traded zerk with another on the mower and greased the rotor bearing. I will order a replacement now. Thanks all!

H.F. has kits in S.A.E. and Metric . I have used them for years on my k.k. disk , N.H. mower , N.H. Backhoe and even on my semi's without a issue . Last semi truck had a new slack adjuster on front right steer . Whoever put it on forgot to pull the plug and put in a zerk . Replaced plug with a H.F. metric from the kits and it still worked fine 4 years later and something like 400,000+ miles .
