zero turn mower comparison

Still torn, another good dealer has a Gravely with a 48" cut and a 21hp Kawasaki engine for $5900.
SCag is 19hp Kawasaki $7600 and SCag wth 25hp Kohler is 8000.
Really like the scag but is there truly that much difference other than color?
Would I tell a difference between 19hp kawasaki and 25hp kohler? NOt cutting too much thick grass.......

I've had several. I'm not too keen on Scag. The original founder sold out his ownership when they started cutting corners to make more profit. Original Scags were fine. IMHO, newer ones are average at best and you pay a $2000 premium for what's left over of the formerly good name.

I've got a Kubota. After having one a couple of things I would recommend looking for are access to the deck for cleaning and access to the grease fittings between the deck and machine. I made some modifications to improve access on mine. I think some of the professional mowers let the deck flip up while attached.

I've heard nothing but good things about Scags. My brother in law has been operating them for several years on an estate he managed. They recently went to the Kubota 72 inch front mount I think, but still use the Scags. He just bought Turf Tiger for his personal use, he had had a Gravely before but I think it was a sulky model.

I bought a surplus Hustler SuperZ that had been ragged by a municipality in FL, rebuilt the engine and have operated it for two seasons - - a tremendous performer and even with the 25HP Kaw is will lift the front wheels on hard acceleration. BTW, I can't imagine anyone operating one of these at full speed.

I too recommend a Hustler. I do have one but when I was looking I didn't and I went to powershows and dealers and looked at them all. Hustler has, IMO, the smoothest controlls and they have been making Zs for a Looooong time. I think they had the first Z, don't quote me. They are superior commercial quality. However, I think you would probably not go wrong with any of the ones you mentioned - same with engines. I have had really good luck with Kawasaki engines lasting a long time on mowers - they are really torqey.
