Well, some will try.:)

There any many good commercial-quality ZTR mowers on the market. IMO, the "best" mower depends a lot on the dealer. Notice what the pro landscapers are using in your area. That's usually a pretty good clue as to dealer quality.

I would like to hear some opinions also. I would like to know what some good brands are for personal use for about one-two acres? What is the best bang for the buck? I see about every brand on the landscape trailers around here.

Grasshopper,eXmark,Dixie Chopper,Land Pride,Hustler,Bad Boy,Walker. I personally own a Grasshopper with a 61" front mounted deck and a 28hp Kubota diesel.I can get any part for it from local dealers. If it has to be ordered it's usually in the next day because the company is here in Kansas.I'd look at local dealers and see what they have and go from there. russ

The high end ones are more similar than different. It boils down to dealer support and price in many cases. I have seen the high cut quality of the Exmark, but it seems a bit less heavily made than some others. John Deere, Kubota, Gravely, Scag, Grasshopper, Dixie Chopper all come to my mind. In my area, John Deere support from my dealer (about two hours away) is very strong, so Green is the choice. Where my parents have their mountain place, John Deere is less strong so Kubota is the main player. I personally have had two brands, Gravely and John Deere and was pleased with both. The Gravely has a floating front axle and hydraulic lift, both rare features in this market. It cut fast but not that well. I know that they have since changed the cutting system and now they cut better. A heavier, more durable machine could not be found, though. I recently took order (last summer) of a 950 JD ZTR. It is a great machine. Super fast with a smooth cut. With the upgrades between the 800 series and the 900 series for 2010, John Deere would be at the top of my list, though one could not go wrong with any from the list I (and others) have mentioned.

We have a Kubota ZD326, 26 HP diesel engine, 60" deck. i like the hydraulic lift on the deck (just step on the pedal) and the ease of setting the cutting height. The overall build and fit&finish is outstanding, so is the cut quality. But Exmark and Scag also make fine ZTRs...

+1 A good case can be made for several brands.

I've run Scag, Exmark, Toro, and Hustler... thousands of hours on each. All are good, but I favor the Hustler for quality of cut, speed, and build. I run Walkers for smaller high end residential accounts, but don't prefer them for the larger accounts.
