I have a ZTR185 drum mower. I've only had it one season and wanted to do some maintenance before mowing this year. I do have an operator's manual. The manuals says to replace the grease in the gearbox above the drums every 3 years. It also says to use multipurpose grease.
The only way to replace the grease is to take a bunch of bolts to take off the top plate of the gearbox. On the plate there is a sticker that says "Special Grease". It looks like the top plate has never been off. It's a 2000 year model.
Does anyone know if this is EP-0 grease and maybe I don't need to take the top plate off and replace the grease? I've read on other brands with EP-0 grease you only replace the grease if a repair is required. The mower runs fine. No noise or vibrations.
Thanks,
Ken
