I just purchased a new JD 570. Looked at the zero turns. More mower than I need. I mow some very rough/bumpy fields. For my needs the larger front wheels of the "lawn tractors" work well. Ztrak - probably a great machine for large smooth lawns.

I also have a 2003 JD G100. It's getting old but I still use it as my "rough cut" machine. Chop down meadow grass in several of my meadows with the G100. Do the final clean up work with the new 570.

The G100 has been a REAL workhorse. The only thing I've ever had to do to it - change oil and sharpen blades. It is still on the OEM blades and belts.

I've got z920m and love it, change engine oil, tranny oil filters on schedule and adjusted the valves, grease spindles and front wheels. Mow's some rough areas, with no stick pickup, towed my car out of the clay with it.

Drive over limbs rather than pickup

Aha!
My interp was it wasn't picking up sticks.. but you do what I do, let the sticks lay and they help keep the underside of the deck clean..

One step better than that - beenthere. Drive my X570 out to a pile of chips from my Wallenstein. Park on top of the pile - fire it up - lower the deck. Sit there and let it grind on those chips for a few minuets.

Most anything is better than trying to get under the deck and chip the "puke" off the underside.

Well I demo the z945m until the sales rep returned from vacation. Told him yesterday that I would take the machine. It will be kept out at the inlaws to mow their grass (over 4 acres). I was very pleased with the tweel tires and suspension seat. My wife and mother in law loved the cut on it. I told the dealer I wanted the G6 blades also, but now I will use the OEM blades. They do a great cut. G6's might do better, I'll just have to wait until I sharpen blades. Did order the chute blocker, mowing the country road ditches seems to really throw grass on me, so the blocker will come in handy for mowing around the house, the ditches and mulching leaves this fall.
