My 1700 has a handle on the drivers side lift arm that I assume is for the draft. There is an adjustment nut threaded at the end of the rod. Also the rod has about three holes drilled in it. It seems to make no difference which position the handle is in. Does anyone know the procedure for proper adjustment of draft? Thanks

So would that be left or right drivers side? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I don't know of the 1700 having draft controll.. unles sthis was some sort of external feedback linkage a previous owner cooked up, that would adjust the 3pt control handle.. etc.

Don't think it is draft control but my 3000 has the same thing on the left 3 point arm that is linked to the valve that controls 3 point arms up and down. This is a factory set up Soundguy. I asked at the importer what it is, no one knew. They had many on the floor with this feature. ( 20 or so of the 100 yanmars there had this feature ) Rocker that all of this is linked to presses a plunger raising or lowering the 3 point. I have a couple of operators manuals for mine and none address this feature, what it does, how to adjust.???? I to would be highly interested in what this setups intended use is.

I think you nailed it, but it is not something added on. I'm not sure I can explain clearly but I believe it is a position feedback for the 3 point. I have seen them on the Yanmars before. I had one come loose and the hitch started acting real eratic and when I found and tightened the culprit, all was well.

That was my first thought.. Fergie tractors and Ford N's also had a factory aftermarket 3pt feedback linkage as well as many many home brew setups. The attatched to the lift arms in various ways.. and used springs.. levers, and friction discs to modulate the lift handle for various things. In the fergy/ford case.. they turned draft 'only' hyds.. into psuedo 'position' control. I'm sure there are setups where as the implement follows the terain, that the falling implement could them modulate the 3pt handle to change something.

I like seeing neat mechanical linkages like that.. kinda reminds me of Rube Goldberg type stuff.. or clockwork.. etc.

While we are all standing around prognosticating.. post a pic of that linkage.. I've not personally seen one on a yanmar.. a visual clue may go a long way towards an explanation.

Tractors4u is correct . If you didn't have the linkage the control valve would keep supplying oil to the lift cylinder. If you adjust the rod it should change how far the 3 point raises or dropd.

Hmmm. The operation manual says connect the feedback rod only to the 'P' hole, never the 'D' hole... Could D mean Draft Control?

Here's the diagram.

I'll take a pic. tomorrow and post. By the way it's on the left drivers side unless you are sitting in the seat backwards. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif HE HE
