Help- I snapped off the PTO shaft on my YM336 and am having trouble in it's removal. I have removed the bracket, spacer, 2 snap rings and large washer that is in the rear of the gearbox and now am looking at a bearing that appears pressed onto the PTO shaft. Should the pto shaft and bearing now slide out together, (I have tried and cannot budge it), or do I have to go into the gearbox to remove?

You will have to remove the hydraulic lift assembly. This is not an easy job. I would invest in a YM336 service manual.

Not a good memory, but here is what happened. I was bushhogging and the clip that secures 1 side of the 3 pt hitch disappeared??? and wa laa , the hitch came off when I made a turn.

If it were me,I would remove it from the rear of the machine.
If you loosen the bolts around the pto shaft, it should slide out in one whole unit with the gears attached.
Thats how all the grey ones are removed, then you can repair it on a workbench. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Yeah Ernie, That is what I would like to do, however, it will not let go of something inside the box. I have attempted to slide it out. There must be more to it

Did you have a toplink hooked up? I'm surprised that the other 2 links let it move enough so tha tthe driveline ujoints didn't take up a bit of that slack instead of just poping the shaft off.

Try shifting it into 3rd gear first out of 4x4
If that doesnt work try the other gears

Its not the bolts around the shaft.
Its the bolts that hold the complete unit, the outer ones
about 6-8 of them
