Tiller Tiller colors: Do matching colors matter?

For me, the best implement I can get for the best price I can get are all that matters. I couldn't care less about colors. These are tools, for gosh sakes, not nitnacks on a shelf!!/w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif I think I have implements in just about every color made; red, green, blue, brown, yellow, orange and of course the ever popular rust!/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

I care about performance and price, color doesn't mean anything to me. I own a Kubota and wouldn't loose a nights sleep if I bought a pink rotary cutter if that cutter met all my performance and price expectations.

Hi Mark-I have been selling farm equipment for over 26 years and color has never been much of a issue. However, with the competition becoming greater in this tiller/attachment market, color may be a factor that will help close some sales in the future. That is, if products are of equal quality and features etc.?---Ken Sweet

The quality and price of the implement are paramount, of course.

I'd rather the manufacurer's of implements put more color (paint) on their products. I told that to a Wood's rep at the Central Ohio Power Show a couple of years ago and he looked at me like I was nuts.

A better paint job is more important then a matching paint job.

Birds make them all equal anyway!(Secretly, I always wanted a color coordinated manure spreader!)

Seriously though, it very well may have a subliminal effect on the decision making process, and that is important to the seller for sure.
Have said that, given the same quality paint job I would pay about $20 to match the color, but not more.

I agree with you there...the paint job on my Woods 1120 PHD bites the big one. It may become purple if I have any paint left after refinishing some outdoor metal furniture that was my grandmother's! That will certainly be an interesting contrast with the Kubota orange...<G>

Well this tells you my opinin. My MMM New Holland blue. My rotary cutter is King Kutter blue. My tiller is First choice orange. My Green line post hole digger is yellow and black. For me it was the brand i wanted in didnt matter the color. It all takes green to buy them so i went for the brand i thought was best for my bucks/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I strongly suspect that in this day and age, very few compact tractor owners are serious, if at all, farmers, but are merely trying to clean up or maintain their "country estates". My grandfather farmed 120 acres with badly rusted tractors, hay mower, rake, binder, thresher and all sorts of plows that seemed to last forever, however I am now trying to clear and maintain 60 of those acres with my red tractor and red implements, which, when I am finished using them, I wash and touch-up all the nicks and dings with primer and red paint. When I buy any more implements I'm sure they will also be red.
