Sprayer PTO or Electric Sprayer

Simple to build a 3pt for less than $500 with 55gal barrel. If you're talking about trailer model, that would be spendier and a bit more complicated, unless you had a little trailer handy.

Okay, I'm not the most mechanical person. Is there a tutorial or guide online somewhere? What kind of store would have all the parts? A standard implement store?

Not sure of answer to your question, but just wanted to sympathize about Russian Yellow Star Thistle. God that stuff's nasty. If we planted it along the border, no illegals would ever get through. Neighbor's rotweiller stepped on one with rear paw and needle migrated up leg and all the way to upper ribs, causing massive infection. When vet cut it out, it was still hard and sharp as a hypodermic needle.

I cut some with the brush hog a few years ago and breathed the pulverized dust. Within hours I came down with bronchitis so bad that it induced asthma, which I had never had before. I always wear heavy duty air filter & goggles now.

Nice to hear more Central CA folks on here.

I built mine from scratch. I got all of the parts from tractor supply except the barrel (55 Gl) and steel for the frame. Mine is a 3 pt. with roller pump. I have 10 foot gates so I opted for the boomless nozzle. It will spray around a 40-50 foot wide spray pattern. The only problem with this setup is the wind does not need to be blowing at all. The nozzles that spray the chemical the most distance are tilted up at about a 45 degree angle which shoots the chemical up and out at a long arch pattern. I have a valve that switches the pressure from the boomless nozzel to a hand nozzle. This allows me to spray herbicide along my fences and on my driveway.

I had an electric with 25 gl tank and 10 foot boom. This was way too time consuming to spray even my 10 acres of pasture. It just did not have enough volume.

Tossdulf,
We do a lot of spraying of trees on our olive farm o I investigated sprayers. I like this one

The Orchard sprayer is aorund $3,400. I e-mailed them for information. I like these sprayers, I like the fact that you don't have to have nozzels, booms or wands. Since we already have 2 PTOsprayers, I would probably get this as a stand alone with it's own engine. If it is stand alone you can put in in the back of an utility vehicle like a RTV.

Check out this website, and don't miss the video.

I have around $450.00 in the setup. I do not have pics but I can take some and post. Nothing pretty but it works great.

talldaddy,
Is the one you built similar to the one I mentioned in the post above, A1MistSprayer. Is your sprayer similar to that one?

photo of sprayer, note pump attached to hose on the left (red hose), boomless nozzle laying over barrel (red hose), hand spray gun (yellow hose) normally the boomless nozzle would be attached to the back (right side in photo). This is how I left everything after I winterized it.
